Mohabtaan marked Hardik Trehan's debut as a playback singer — a track on the soundtrack of Sikander, a Punjabi film produced by Imagination Entertainment and directed by Jatinder Mauhar. The song released through Catrack Entertainment in 2013, was very well appreciated, and the film itself did quite well.
Hardik had four years of vocal practice behind him before being given the chance to sing for the movie. Several firsts are tied to the recording: first time facing the microphone in a recording studio, and first time carrying the responsibility of proving his vocals could do justice to a playback song. The session was supervised by composer Davvy Singh, with lyrics by Gaurav Trehan.
The film stars Gul Panag, Kartar Cheema, Manav Vij, Raj Singh Jhinjer, Victor John and Yaad Grewal.
